Charged with a significant responsibility, I crafted comprehensive design guidelines for the Asian Games, strategically envisioning a cohesive branding approach.

The goal was to have a unified design that works well on social media, mobile apps, and the main website.

The 19th Asian Games
ESPN.in
Role: Art Director

THE BRIEF
The Asian Games is a multi-sport event at massive scale, spanning disciplines, athletes, cultures, and platforms.
The challenge was to create a unified visual system for ESPN.in that could support real-time sports coverage while remaining culturally grounded, flexible, and performance-driven.

The design needed to work seamlessly across platforms.
THE IDEA
I approached the Asian Games identity as a modular performance system.

The idea was to:
-
Build a strong core visual language inspired by Chinese cultural motifs and architecture
-
Create adaptable components (patterns, borders, layouts) that could flex across sports
-
Ensure speed and clarity for editorial teams working in real time

ART DIRECTION
The art direction balanced cultural respect, clarity, and performance energy.

-
Cultural inspiration: Research into the history of the Asian Games, Hangzhou’s identity, and the architecture of the hosting stadium informed patterns and framing.
-
Pattern systems: Modular patterns were designed to act as visual anchors across platforms.
-
Colour & contrast: Chosen to ensure visibility on mobile-first environments while maintaining a premium sports aesthetic.
-
Typography: Selected for legibility at speed — supporting real-time updates and long-scroll consumption.

EXECUTION
I ensured consistent implementation across multiple internal teams while designing assets that scaled seamlessly across social media, mobile apps, and web platforms. Throughout the event, I acted as a visual gatekeeper, maintaining quality, coherence, and clarity across all outputs in a fast-paced, real-time environment.
